World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
The item upgrade feature allows players to boost the item level for equippable weapons or armor. This improves the stats and sometimes adds buffs or rerolls an affix.
It is important to keep in mind that upgrading common gear is not always worth it. Rare and unique gear will soon surpass modernized equipment and magic.
Cost
When a player upgrades an item, they have to spend Gold to do so. The cost to upgrade an item depends on the item's current status and type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are usually less expensive than upgrades to armor, since weapons have lower requirements. The amount of Gold needed increases as an item is upgraded.
Upgraded item upgrades come with enhanced stats that can boost its performance in a variety of ways. This could include boosting its attack strength or critical strike chance. The upgraded item can also provide additional buffs to the weapon it is equipped with. These upgrades can be utilized for a variety of reasons, including to boost the overall power of an individual or group unit. They also can affect the overall gameplay.
Items can be upgraded by any NPC that is an upgrader in the game. These NPCs are located in major questing areas, or capital cities. You can also find upgraders of items in dungeons that feature high-level bosses. You can also talk to NPCs in the garrisons of your faction.
The system of upgrading items in World of Warcraft provides players with the possibility of upgrading the levels of armor, weapons and trinkets. The process is similar to the process of reforging gear in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however instead of using the currency appropriate to the task players must visit an NPC to upgrade their items to complete the process.

A player can Reroll an upgraded item using a Reroll Token to exchange the upgrade for a new one. The new item has a distinct set of bonuses, as well as a lower level of the item. The rerolled item will also have different requirements for strength and dexterity. Upgrades to items are added to the item's base statistics which means that they won't increase after a certain amount.
